Background
Silverton was a really cool startup I helped out. Silverton was all about helping businesses scale their databases and their data architecture. Truthfully many of the concepts are over my head and quite dense so I won’t bore you with the details. Plus nothing ever happened with them sadly. I thought some of the work I did was really dope so this is more of eye candy.
The name Silverton comes from a small skiing and mining town in Colorado. The most popular trees there are spruce trees hence the pine cone logo. The pine cone represents growth since the whole point of Silverton was to help businesses scale.
The whole vibe of the business was supposed to be on the serious and professional side since it was supposed to be a business tool. I tried to mix in some natural aspects and tried to play with this concept of manmade vs nature. The logo typeface is a nice geometric san serif Avante garde and its paired with a pinecone. The rest of the illustrations are entirely geometric with a muted palette inspired from nature. The palette consists of a lot of browns and greens with the exception of the vibrant blue. Also when designing the palette, accessibility was at the forefront. Colors have been carefully selected to follow AA guidelines. When designing, I always use a contrast checker to make sure text and important elements meet these requirements.
